Since being established in 1946, to this day Silverlake is still a family run business and employs over 70 people. The company offers a wide variety of services ranging from, vehicle recovery, environmentally friendly recycling of End of Life Vehicles (ELV), auctions and daily breakers. The company has also shown significant growth in recent years with the introduction of a Silverlake retail unit in Southampton along with considerable investment and expansion at its Headquarters in Botley, Hampshire.
Objectives
Redevelop and rebrand Silverlake.co.uk as a recognised, leading online business for automotive parts, salvage and auction within the UK.
Develop and deliver a best of breed e-commerce platform for the business, as well as advising regarding the most appropriate IT infrastructure, hosting and preparation of new office facilities current under construction.
Provide top level senior technology consultancy, guidance and project management in order to fulfill key in-house IT initiatives.
Our solution
CG Consultancy worked with BMI over an 18 month period to deliver the following headline items:
- Design and develop a new online platform to cover all of Silverlake's business divisions, designed and developed in co-operation with our sister company five one two.
- Produce an effective branding strategy for the business, both online and off.
- Collaborate with industry software specialist (DH Systems) to integrate the new online Silverlake.co.uk platform with existing in house systems.
- Ensure that the Silverlake.co.uk website includes a real-time view of stock as well as the ability to search, enquire and purchase online.
- Provide on-going consultancy on a regular basis, providing an interim CIO/CTO to manage IT initiatives internally.
The Results
Feedback from customers has been immensely positive, citing in particular the ease of use and the professional look and feel of the website.
With the help of CG Consultancy, new business initiatives have also been formalised, these include a new self-service vehicle dismantling service (www.upickit. co.uk) and a vehicle donation charity (udonateacar.com)
Now Silverlake.co.uk (when compared to other competitors) is considered a leader within the automotive recycling industry with daily visits averaging at 1,500.
